The Masonic register and emblematic history of Master Mason Maurice F. Sheldon of Hartland Lodge, No. 218 (Johnson’s Creek, N.Y.). Dated October 17, 1874. The Eye of Providence rests at the top of the register, and underneath this Masonic symbol, two cherubs carry the letter “G.” In addition to these symbols, the register is adorned with depictions of Masonic tools, two angels carrying children, Father Time (an old man carrying a scythe) who holds a virgin (the representation of morning), and an image of Noah's ark.

This lithographed record had a different purpose. Makers designed this print for display. It is larger than typical certificates, printed in color, and features detailed images and ornaments. Attractive and poster-sized, this document was and intended to be exhibited in its owner’s home.
