Masonic quilt with pieced and appliqued baskets and square and compasses symbols. 72 alternating blocks on point. Half are a red and white basket pattern, the other half are an appliqued square and compasses symbol in red print fabric on white ground. Blocks are 9 inches square and use the same red printed fabric throughout. The backing is muslin and composed of more than ten pieces. Bias-applied binding with curved corners. Blocks are hand- and machine-pieced and hand- and machine-appliqued (basket handles). Thin batting. Hand-quilted with outline, parallel lines, flower designs under the basket handles and chains. Quilted at seven stitches to the inch.
