Unfinished needlework sampler stitched over two threads on bleached 24-count fabric. Left side is selvage; top, bottom and right side are turned under and hemmed. Pattern of brown stripes is woven into the fabric on all four sides. Body of sampler is composed of three alphabets and two sets of numbers all cross-stitched in red. First two rows are an upper-case block style alphabet (no J). Following a cross-stitch dividing line, the next three rows are an upper-case cursive style alphabet (no J). Next is a row of numbers 1-0. After a cross-stitch dividing line, the next two rows are a lower-case cursive style alphabet (no j). After a cross-stitch dividing line, there is a second set of numbers 1-0. A partial letter is started toward the center of the fabric underneath the second set of numbers.
