Lantern slide in color. Image shows Abraham Lincoln giving a speech to a large group of men and women (part of the Lincoln-Douglass debates). Several men stand and sit behind Lincoln on the podium with a bass drum and American flags. Several banners are visible in the crowd. They read, "Illinois Born Under the Ordinance of 87"; "The Little Giant Chawing Up Old Abe"; "Abe the Gnat Killer"; "Edgar County for the Tall Slicker"; "Westward the Star of Empire Takes its Way, The Girls Link on to Lincoln, Their Mothers were for Clay"; "Free Territories and Free Men, Free Pulpits and Free Preachers, Free Press and a Free Pen, Free Schools and Free Teachers." A label printed in red is applied to one end of the slide and reads, "A.D. Handy, Stereopticons & Supplies, Boston."
