Medal, 50 Year Order of the Hague. OBVERSE: Circular bronze medal features raised bust, in profile, of J. H. de Groot in center. He faces to PL, is balding, has no facial hair, and is wearing a suit with a lapel pin (possibly). To the PR of the bust are the stylized initials, "A V W", engraved one over the other. REVERSE: To PR, a raised design of palm (possibly) fronds runs along curve of circle's edge. To PL, raised text in Dutch: "AAN / BR. [three dots arranged in a triangle] J. H. DE GROOT / TER HERINNERING / AAN ZIJN / VIJFTIGJARIG / VRIJMETSELAARSCHAP / 1854_31 MAART_1904 / O [three dots arranged in a triangle] VAN'S GRAVENHAGE / " -- " / BEGEER / J. V. G.". Sides smooth, with stamped "HOLLAND" where thickest.
