Masonic Scottish Rite Oriental Consistory Candidate Ribbon for James A. Mateer. OBVERSE: Silver-colored metal name plate at top frames paper insert with words, "Jas. A. Mateer" handwritten in ink, in cursive. Top of plate rectangular in shape and of plain, flat metal; lower half features banner design extending downwards with Scottish Rite 32° emblem in center (double-headed eagle, "32°" in delta at center, sword gripped in talons); raised text "ORIENTAL" on PR of banner and "CONSISTORY" on PL. Royal blue silk ribbon hangs from back of name plate; bears text "CANDIDATE", stamped vertically in gold paint. V shape cut in to end of ribbon, which is frayed. REVERSE: Folded name plate backing is of dark grey metal; ribbon secured in fold; spring pin with c-clip fastening affixed to backing through two metal panels.
