On August 20, 1907, Provincetown's Pilgrim Monument celebrated its cornerstone laying with great fanfare, including the participation of not only the state's Grand Officers, but also of the sitting U.S. President - and Freemason - Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919). Roosevelt wore this apron that day when he helped lay the cornerstone.
