White, red and green cotton appliqued and embroidered quilt; thirty blocks (14 1/2" square), each with a Masonic symbol inside a circle of appliqued leaves. Hearts appliqued in four corners of each block. Quilted around designs, some symbols stuffed. Appliqued and pieced by hand, assembled by machine. Hand-quilted at 15-17 stitches to the inch. Woven applied binding; thin cotton batting. Off-white backing made up of several pieces.

Women associated with the Beacon Light Chapter No. 75 of the Order of the Eastern Star put together this album quilt to present to Beacon Light Lodge No. 701 in Staten Island, New York. The makers appliquéd and embroidered a Masonic symbol within a wreath on each block of this quilt. The high quality of the sewing and the embroidery speaks to the skill of the quilt makers. Their portrayal of Masonic emblems demonstrates their familiarity with the symbols used in Freemasonry.
