A letter dated July 20, 1918, from World War I Private Timothy J. Mahoney. Mahoney served with the 302nd Infantry Regiment as part of the American Expeditionary Force. Private Mahoney describes his arrival in Europe. Written on Knights of Columbus War Activities letterhead.

Mahoney, A80/004/1 In July of 1918 Timothy Mahoney (b. 1896) wrote to his brother, Patrick, who lived in Cambridge, Massachusetts, about his journey overseas on stationery provided by the Knights of Columbus. He noted that his trip was “tiresome” and the weather was “hot as blazes” but “the scenery in Europe is certainly great.” He also told his brother that he would “like to say a whole more but we are forbidden to mention much as to the censor.”
