In 1931, in anticipation of the 200th anniversary of George Washington’s birth, a group of investors commissioned 20 established American artists to design and produce etchings of scenes from Washington’s public and domestic life. The American Art Foundation sold these etchings, in portfolios of 20 images, each signed by the artist. This print illustrates Pohick Church in Lorton, Virginia. Washington attended this church for many years, and served as a warden and a vestryman there.
