The Grand Lodge of Massachusetts first chartered a lodge in China in 1863. After World War II, many of China's Masons worked to reestablish the fraternity. District Deputy Grand Master Franklin C. Fette (1877-1959) wore this apron. In 1946 the Grand Lodge installed him in this office in a Boston ceremony. After reviewing the lodge's records kept in Massachusetts, he returned to China and his work of bringing the brothers back together.
