DeMolay Crown. EXTERIOR: Gold-colored, sheet metal frame has flat, unadorned surface and edges that are cut in curved designs. Base of crown is made of one piece that is wrapped into a circle and fastened with four gold-colored metal grommets where ends meet; arches over cap are of two separate, crossing pieces, and there are two grommets on base where each one is affixed. Also around base, 1/2" from bottom, is a series of small holes through which runs a gold-colored thread (likely cotton) attaching fabric of cap to inside. One of the crossing metal pieces over cap has a circular disk at center to which cast, gold-colored metal DeMolay emblem infilled with red, white, and blue enamel is affixed vertically. Emblem consists of a crown shape infilled with red enamel, with crossed swords behind and a knight's helmet above; at center, a white five-lobed star (with each lobe having two points) has a blue circle in the middle with a moon and ten stars around it. Back of emblem is of plain, flat metal. Inside metal frame, cap of bloused red velvet (likely cotton) has four seams which meet where it is affixed to center of metal frame. INTERIOR: White cotton bloused lining is sewn along bottom of crown with gold-colored thread, and has a gold-colored metal bolt at top center where crest is affixed.
