1950
Metal, silk
overall: 5-1/4"h x 2-1/4"w x 1/4"d
Loaned by the Grand Lodge of Masons in Massachusetts
GL2004.4202

Badge with horizontal pin bar at top. Front of pin bar is rectangular with space in the middle for a slip of paper. Hanging from the pin is a purple ribbon stamped with "Prince Hall / Masonic / Pilgrimage / Boston, / Mass. / August / 13-19 / 1950." Suspended from the ribbon is a round bronze-colored medal with a bust image of a man in the center surrounded by symbols for six Masonic groups (Royal Arch, Knights Templar, Eastern Star, Shrine, and Scottish Rite). Along the sides of the portrait it reads, "Prince Hall."

Since the mid-1800s, organizers of Masonic events have commissioned brightly colored ribbon badges to identify members of a group and to serve as a souvenir of a special occasion. This ribbon commemorates a pilgrimage of Prince Hall Masons to Boston in 1950.
