Union Lodge of Dorchester was chartered in 1796 and the charter was signed by Paul Revere, Grand Master of Masons in Massachusetts. This lodge is predated by only 13 lodges in Massachusetts. This collection documents the prosperity of this lodge from the 18th century, through the Anti-Masonic movement of 1820s and 1830s, to the peak of prosperity of the lodge during the 1930s. The collection consists of correspondence, committee reports, minute books, applications for membership, notices for meetings, manuscript by-laws, membership lists, photograph albums, financial ledgers, demits, ephemera, and miscellaneous material. These records document the events and activities of Union Lodge from 1796 through 1950. For further information SEE FINDING AID IN LIBRARY READING ROOM.
