Distinguished Service Medal, York Rite Knights Templar Grand Commandery of Indiana. OBVERSE: Rectangular, gold-plated pin bar features decorative scrollwork around edges with finial at top; at center of bar, red enamel-infilled background features raised gold text, "GRAND COMMANDERY OF / INDIANA". Suspended from round eyelets on either side of bar via two 3/4"-long gold-plated metal chains is another gold-plated bar, rectangular with a shaped extension at bottom and decorative scrollwork above and below, with red enamel infill and the raised gold text, "DISTINGUISHED SERVICE / AWARD". Suspended from round eyelets on either side of bar via two 1/2"-long gold-plated metal chains is a round, gold-plated jewel featuring gold-plated wreath with a Knights Templar emblem in the center (Templar cross infilled with black enamel and the raised gold text, "IN", "HOC", "SIGNO", "VINCES" clockwise from left side; crossed gold-plated swords behind; and at center, a white enamel-infilled circle over which is affixed a red enamel-infilled passion cross through a gold crown). Negative space between wreath and emblem empty. REVERSE OF JEWEL: Stamped with "1/20 12K GF [illeg. maker's mark]" at bottom. REVERSE: Pin bar backing features locking mechanism on PR. l Red ribbon with jewel. Blank on back.
