A life-long Mason, author, and retired business executive, John H. Van Gorden (1899-2002) served as chairman of the Scottish Rite Supreme Council's library and museum committee during the founding of the Scottish Rite Masonci Museum & Library. He was also among the new institution's first trustees. To acknowledge his support of the Museum's library, it is now called the Van Gorden-Williams Library & Archives.
