Loyal Order of Moose Hat. EXTERIOR: Purple satin (likely silk) hat is dome-shaped, with darker purple felt (likely synthetic) turned-up brim all the way around. Brim 1-3/4" wide at back and increases gradually to a width of 3" at front; inside brim, four ventilation holes with black-coated metal grommets are spaced evenly around edge, with black cotton tape lining seam. On dome portion of hat, four seams join at top center, where there is a round purple satin-covered button; 13"-long purple silk tassel attached to button has white silk band of wrapped cording around it. At front, red velvet, heart-shaped patch with gold bullion moose head in center and bullion trim is sewn on; moose has red thread eye and black thread mouth and nostril. To PL of patch, three lapel pins are affixed; from closest to patch to farthest, they are: 1) round pin 5/8" in diameter, cast gold with red enamel, with central design of gold relief moose head, relief "N", "E", "S", and "W" around it, and the text "MOOSE / GO-GETTER / MOOSEHAVEN 1922 - 1972" in gold relief with red enamel infill around edge and ship's wheel handles around outside; 2) clear gem pin 9/16" in dia. with gold relief moose head at center, red infilled "collar" at neck bearing raised gold text, "L O O M", and circle of ten round, clear gems (possibly diamond or crystal) surrounding; and 3) triangular enamel-infilled gold pin which has red enamel outer edge, white center bearing the letters "F", "C", and "H" (clockwise, in corners), and a gold relief moose head at center. INTERIOR: Black cotton lining. Rectangular, black label at top center (likely synthetic) bears embroidered yellow text, "MADE EXPRESSLY FOR / LOYAL ORDER of MOOSE / by / THE C. E. WARD CO. / NEW LONDON, OHIO". Brown vinyl sweatband around edge, with round perforations arranged in repeating diagonal strips of three. Small white square paper tag adhered to cotton lining near seam of sweatband, with "7 1/2" printed in black ink. Handwritten in black ink "WALTER W. [illeg.] LEGION [illeg.] WARREN [illeg.] OF THE [illeg.]".
