Tall Case Clock, Pennsylvania Dutch a: Swiss base, painted green with Swiss/ Germanic motifs, two lions over the door; b: middle section; c: bonnet; d: pendulum; e-f: pair of weights; g-i: brass finials.

McFadden decorated this clock, powered by wooden works, along a Pennsylvania Dutch theme, using motifs first made popular by the German-speaking settlers of Pennsylvania. Painted tulips, daisies, mermaids, lions, and other figures ornament the front and sides of the clock. When the clock strikes, an angel at the top of the clock face hits a red devil with a hammer.
