Masonic pieced and appliqued quilt. Muslin center with blue print diamond. Appliqued Masonic symbols inside the diamond in maroon, white and gold floral prints. At the center is a blue square and compasses with a G in the middle. Arranged in a circle around this symbol are officer symbols: square, crossed quills, two cornucopias, level, square and compasses with moon, crossed batons, lyre, open Bible (Psalms - Make a joyful noise unto the Lord), sword, square and compasses with sun, plumb, and crossed keys. These symbols have embroidered details. Appliqued at the corners are leafy vines with grapes and embroidered details in maroon. Seven borders: thin maroon print; pieced chevrons in muslin and gold with floral ground; thin maroon print; maroon diamonds with blue ground; thin maroon print; checkerboard in floral and gold prints; wide maroon print. Straight applied binding in the maroon print. Muslin backing. Quilted throughout with outline pattern in border and around appliqued symbols, parallel lines in central corners, wreath around square and compasses in center. Embroidered inscription in maroon on the front at lower right corner: "To Stephen / from / Aunt Edith / Oct. 1981 #3."
