He cradles a sword in his right arm and holds a map in his hands. To his left is a table holding a tricorn hat. Behind him is a drawn curtain revealing a landscape with rows of military tents on a plain in front of a mountain.; under image is eagle with shield and banner that reads "E PLURIBUS UNUM." Printed below the image is "F. Bartoli Pinx. / J. Galland Sculp. / His Excellency GEORGE WASHINGTON Lieut. This print is after the print by David Edwin, which also gives the painter as "F. Bartoli." It was probably inspired by Washington's reappointment as Commander in Chief.
