His left leg is in front of his right leg. The man is wearing a gray frock coat with a black collar, black pants, black shoes, a gray shirt with a white collar, and Knights Templar apron, sash or baldric, gauntlets, and sword belt. His apron is black, with a white border and a skull and crossbones emblem; there are crossed swords on the flap. His sash is also black with a white border. It has a Maltese cross and a nine-pointed star on it. His gauntlets are white; there is a cross visible on the cuff of the left gauntlet. His sword belt is black, with a rectangular buckle; a sheathed sword hangs from the left side of the belt. The man is holding a chapeau-de-bras under his left arm; it is black, with black and white feathers on top. Directly above the pedestal, there is a gray curtain with two tassels hanging down. There is a gilt, double-lined border running around the edge of the CDV. Handwritten in pencil on the back is "KT [illeg]." Printed in black on the back is "D.B.
