Black-and-white stereophotograph or stereocard mounted on a yellow card, showing a detail of a painting, Brumidi's Apotheosis of Washington, in a rotunda, looking up from the ground. The painting features several classically themed scenes. The ceiling of the rotunda is ornately patterned. The back of the card is yellow, with an off-white, rectangular label affixed in the center. Printed in black on the label is "Brumidi's Alligorical [sic.] Painting, / (in dome of the U.S. Capitol.) / Photographed and Published by Bell & Bro., 480 Penna. Ave., / Washington, D.C. / Entered according to an Act of Congress, A.D. 1867, by F.H. Bell, in the District / Court of the District of Columbia."
