In addition to the degrees granted in their lodge, members could further explore Odd Fellowship in a higher branch of the order called the Encampment. In the late 1860s, many men who had taken the Encampment degrees lobbied for the national leadership of the Odd Fellows to approve a uniformed branch of this group that could wear military-style uniforms and march in parades. This image portrays a man dressed in an Encampment uniform.
