DeMolay Cape. Black synthetic-fabric cape with red lining hangs to calf length. Band collar is trimmed with yellow satin cord which hangs from collar to knee and has tassels at either end. Red lining is turned out and sewn to exterior base of collar 1-1/4" along either side of opening; on PR side only, it is also sewn to exterior of bottom hem so as to show along full length of cape opening. At PR chest, red, yellow, white, and navy blue DeMolay emblem patch (crown, overlaid with 10-pointed star with moon and wreath in center; crossed swords behind, knight's helmet above) is sewn onto front. At shoulders, white satin epaulettes feature red plastic button at inner ends and bow-tie of white grosgrain ribbon at outer ends; affixed underneath PL epaulette with a black plastic button is a looped length of yellow synthetic cording, part of which is braided. Inside back of lining is a light peach-colored synthetic label with red embroidered lettering, "AUTHORIZED [unidentified symbol, possibly Masonic] APPROVED / OFFICIAL DEMOLAY GARMENT / DRY CLEAN ONLY / INTERNATIONAL FRATERNITY HOUSE / SOLE DISTRIBUTOR / 201 EAST ARMOUR BLVD. KANSAS CITY, MO."; underneath this is a printed tag with various fields to fill in, only some of which are completed (in black typed text): Name ("#13 Regular"), Chest ("38"), Order ("168"), Spec. ("22535-A"), and at bottom, "74-1/2% Acetate & 25-1/2% Rayon". A length of white cotton tape is sewn in at PR shoulder, probably for securing cape to clothes underneath.
