Sepia-tone carte-de-visite photograph mounted on cardboard with a gold-tone edge. There is a drape at the side and the subject stands and rests one hand on the back of a side chair. His other hand holds the sword at his waist. He wears a dark hat with a shield-shaped emblem on the front. He has a mustache and wears a long dark coat with dark pants. The coat has shoulder patches and he wears dark cuffs that also have a shield-shaped emblem on them. He wears a fraternal striped sash with a triangle pin or badge and a sword belt. The back is pink and has stamped gold text, "Photographic / Gallery of Art. / R.A. Kubick, / No. 239 West Twelfth Street, / Chicago. / Negatives Retained for Future Orders."
