a: Past Master's Jewel with pin in original hinged case. Cast gold jewel in shape of square and compasses with quadrant arc at bottom, all featuring decorative engraving; at center, sun with human face and 20 diamonds (three composing eyes and mouth, and 17 arranged in circle around face); below sun, a "G". Round loop at top for hanging. Reverse has vertical hinged stick pin for afflixing to clothing and bears engraved text along square and quadrant arc: "Mt. Tabor Lodge / East Boston / to / W. Bro. / E. J. Cleveland / Elected Master / Nov. 1857.". b: Hinged black leather case has triangular shape with rounded corners, "E. J. CLEVELAND" stamped in gold leaf on lid. Gold-colored metal push-button clasp. Inside, purple velvet (likely silk) lining on bottom side has indentations for holding pin, and white paper rim around edge; lid is lined with purple silk.
