Joseph Warren jewel for Jacob Glazin and case. a: OBVERSE: Jewel features cast horizontal pin bar, with ribbon suspending cast round medallion. Gold-colored metal pin bar, likely brass, is rectangular with central circular disk bearing raised design of a square and compasses with a G at center; bar plain except for raised flat border. A light blue, synthetic-fabric grosgrain ribbon is attached to its back and looped through an o-ring at bottom. O-ring attached to a round eyelet soldered to top of circular brown metal medallion, likely bronze, at bottom of jewel. Medallion features raised image of man's bust in profile at center; his hair has a curl over the ear and he wears a cravat and a coat with a button near the collar. Arranged in a circle surrounding central image is the raised text, "JOSEPH WARREN" (around top) and "1769 GRAND MASTER 1776" (around bottom). Flat, narrow border surrounds outer edge of medallion. a: REVERSE: Pin bar has hinge at one end and swivel closure at other. Ribbon has 5 or 6 light blue thread loops along back (possibly hand-sewn). Medallion features raised text, "PRESENTED [arranged in rounded fashion at top] / BY / THE GRAND LODGE / OF / MASSACHUSETTS / TO / BROTHER / JACOB J. GLAZIN [not raised but machine-carved into metal] / IN RECOGNITION / OF / DISTINGUISHED SERVICE [arranged in rounded fashion at bottom]". Flat, narrow border surrounds outer edge of medallion. b: EXTERIOR: Black leather case has pebbled texture (probably stamped into leather), four flaps, and a silver-colored metal snap closure which has black plastic coating covering front face. b: INTERIOR: Larger side flaps feature fine-textured, smooth leather lining. Smaller top and bottom flaps feature black grosgrain ribbon (or other ribbed fabric) lining, likely synthetic. Central rectangular platform covered with royal blue velvet (likely synthetic) has a small dark blue leather loop at the top for affixing jewel.
