Political campaign bandanna for James G. Blaine (1830-1893) and John A. Logan (1826-1886); bust portraits of Blaine and Logan in black and white ovals; legend reads "The Constitution / For President James G. Blaine of Maine For Vice President John A. Logan of Illinois."

In the 1884 election, Republican ticket James G. Blaine (1830-1893) and John A. Logan (1826-1886) lost to Democratic candidates Grover Cleveland (1837-1908) and Thomas A. Hendricks (1819-1885). Cleveland was able to withstand a personal scandal (the revelation that he had fathered a child out of wedlock) to become the first Democrat elected president since 1856.
