This DeMolay baseball team played in Portsmouth, New Hampshire’s amateur Sunset League—an “after supper” summertime league. In 1933, the DeMolay’s competition included teams from the Knights of Columbus, the Atlantic Gypsum Products Company, two teams from the Portsmouth Navy Yard, and one from the nearby town of Kittery, Maine. At the season’s start, a local paper noted that the DeMolays were “going forward with plans for capturing the title.” Although they often led in the standings during the regular season, the DeMolays fell to the Knights of Columbus in post-season play.
