a: white cap, Scottish Rite double-headed eagle embroidered on front in gold and black over white velvet band and 2 rows of gold ribbon. Gold string stretched across top from gold-colored buttons with double-heaed eagle on either side; inside in purple with "John H. Glenn Jr." in gold embroidery with "33" in gold on black triangle. Label in white: MADE IN THE U.S.A. BY / KALAMAZOO REGALIA / 728 WEST MICHIGAN / KALAMAZOO, MICHIGAN USA 49007" clear plastic diamond stitched over the label and embroidery; brown leathertte band inside with black ribbon bow. b: black hat carrying case: exterior black leatherett with black plastic zipper around circumferance; black plastic handle attached by metal hangers; interior of red synthetic fabric and red leatherette; label on gold paper with black at either end, "ANTHONY NIZZARDINI / MASONIC SUPPLY CO / 175-5th Ave. New York, N.Y, 10010 / (212) 254-6048"


Former astronaut and US Senator, John H. Glenn Jr. was made a Mason at sight in 1978. In 1998, the soon-to-retire senator received the 33° of Scottish Rite Freemasonry. Embroidered with his name to distinguish it from many others kept the Valley of Cincinnati, this cap bears the double-headed eagle emblem of the 33°.
