Masonic White Apron. Apron composed of white synthetic leather in rectangle shape with triangular flap. Printed on flap underside in blue ink, "[two columns with arch at top and three steps at bottom, with square and compasses with a G at center] / Presented by / Schiller Lodge, No. 263, F.&A.M. / DETROIT, MICHIGAN / TO BROTHER EMIL CRUZ [name is handwritten in black ink along printed dotted line with "AT HIS INITIATION" below] / Initiated SEPT. 16 1953 Passed OCT. 14 1953 Raised OCT. 28 1953 [dates handwritten on dotted lines] / [on dotted line:] HEPeterson John W. Fortune [signatures; names possibly incorrect as signatures not fully legible] / [below dotted line] Secretary [below Peterson signature] Worshipful Master [below Fortune signature]. Twisted white polyester cord, with tassels at either end, for tying around waist.


Emil Cruz (1904–1983), born in the Philippines, emigrated to the United States in 1924 at the age of 19 and eventually worked as a jeweler. Cruz was a member of Schiller Lodge No. 263 and Damascus Commandery No. 42, both located in Detroit.
