Clepsammia (thief of sand). One-hour, four-point sandclock; glass divided in four globes, each globe registers a quarter hour or "point" of sand; wood frame for glass with polychrome engraved paper decoration in red and yellow.

Interested in many types of devices that measured time, clock enthusiat and collector Willis Michael (1894-1969) owned several hourglasses. The small bulbs of this Italian hourglass measure quarter hours.
