Collar, Red Velvet with Metal Chain, Star with Heart in Hand Jewel, Independent Order of Odd Fellows. OBVERSE: Collar features silver and dark grey-colored metal chain (possibly silver-plated nickel) sewn with black and red thread (likely cotton) onto double-faced strip of red velvet (likely silk). Velvet gathered at points where chain links sewn on, and sewn together at either end to form circular shape of collar. Each chain link features oval-shaped outer ring, except for top and bottom links, which have circular outer ring; all feature cast design with decorative pattern on outer ring and a symbol in the center with empty space around. From bottom to top center, the symbols are the same up both sides: the IOOF three-link chain, a heart in hand, an hourglass, a bow and quiver, a bundle of sticks, the IOOF three-link chain (again), an open bible, an all-seeing eye with radiating rays, and a beehive. Circular links at top and bottom feature ten-point star. Cast jewel at bottom of collar features five-point star with a decorative design all around its face and a heart in hand mounted at its center, with empty space between; a rounded three-link IOOF symbol is soldered at top. Jewel hangs from three o-rings suspended from round eyelet at bottom of central collar link. REVERSE: Collar backing features red and black thread knots and ends from where links sewn to front; no markings on back of jewel.
