A magic lantern with a wooden body and brass projection unit with glass lens. There is a wooden swivel cover for the front of the projection barrel and a small inspection window on the proper right side; a black metal roof and slot for glass slides. The interior of the lantern is lined with metal.


Lanterns were used in the lodge for instructional lectures. Glass slides with images were projected onto a wall or screen using magic lanterns.
